INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING MORTAR TPI MORTAR SP
Surface preparation
For concrete:
- Concrete must be cleaned to remove dust, loose material, impurities, and materials that may reduce adhesion or hinder the wetting ability of the repair material. Delaminate, porous, damaged, weakened, and even solid concrete in some cases must be removed by appropriate means.
- It is necessary to remove all surrounding concrete to clean the corroded reinforcement and apply reinforcement protection layers (when needed), as well as to ensure proper compaction of the repair material.
For reinforcing steel:
- It is necessary to remove rust, scale, mortar, concrete, dirt, and other loose materials and impurities that reduce adhesion or contribute to steel corrosion. The surface should be cleaned by abrasive blasting or using high-pressure water.
Mix the products
- The powder is added gradually to the pre-measured container of water until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Mixing with an electric mixer requires mixing at a low speed (maximum 500 rpm) for at least 3 minutes until a smooth, paste-like consistency is achieved.
Product manufacturing
Bonding mortar:
- After preparation and cleaning, carefully moisten the concrete surface for approximately 2 hours before application. Keep the surface wet and do not allow it to dry out. Before application, remove any excess water, possibly with a sponge. The surface should be matte, not glossy. The pores and cavities on the surface must be free of water. Use a clean brush, roller, or suitable spray equipment to create a thin coat that fills all pores and cavities.
Mortar for protecting reinforcing steel from corrosion:
- Use a suitable brush or spray equipment to apply the first coat to the entire outer surface of the reinforcing bars, with a thickness of approximately 1 mm. After testing the first coat with your fingernail, check that it is dry and hardened, then apply the second coat, also with a thickness of approximately 1 mm. If using the spray method, avoid over-spraying the surface. Wait for the material to dry completely before applying the repair mortar.
Maintenance
- After applying the anti-corrosion protection coating to the reinforcing steel, appropriate protective and maintenance measures should be applied to prevent the coating from drying out prematurely and becoming contaminated with dirt.
Toilet
- Rinse tools thoroughly with water immediately after use. Hardened mortar can only be removed by mechanical means.
